A Message From the Principal
Dear Parents:
We are looking forward to working together with you to make this a fun, exciting and successful year. We hope that you will become actively involved in your child’s education. The Parent/Student section is a means of communicating much of the information about how Sorenson operates and information that you need to know throughout the school year. Please refer to it throughout the year and keep the copy you are given at enrollment on hand as a reference guide.
Sorenson prides itself on having a family-friendly, safe, civil and healthy learning environment for each of its students. Learning is an interactive process between teachers, students and families. Please help your child arrive to school on time, well rested, and healthy so he/she can be at his/her best each day. Good communication is essential. As the year progresses, we hope that you will share both positive feedback as well as any concerns that you may have about your child’s school experience so that we can best serve you and your child.
There are many important papers in the back to school packet. Please complete them as soon as possible and return them. You will receive a PTA packet from the office. PTA has a long-standing tradition of parents supporting Sorenson students. I hope you will consider joining and participating in their activities throughout the school year.
I am excited to be a part of the Sorenson learning community and I am looking forward to a busy and productive year.

Arrival & Attendance
Attendance
Absences
Every day of school is important to your child. We encourage regular attendance. On the other hand, a child should not be sent to school if they shows signs of illness.
Please use one of following to report your students absence:
Click here for the attendance reporting form or
Call the 24-hour voicemail 425-408-5549
It is not necessary to contact the teacher directly the office will let them know.
If your student rides the bus you will also need to call transportation at 425-408-7900 at least 2 hours before the start of AM or PM session, so they know not to pick up your child for that day. Failure to notify transportation can result in loss of bussing privilege.
Late Arrival
Students arriving late to school must be accompanied into the office by the adult delivering them and signed in. You or a staff member will escort your child to the classroom.
Early Dismissal
All students must be signed out from the office. All adults picking a student up must be identified on the emergency card. He/she will be required to show photo identification.
Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
Children should not arrive at school before 8:05 am for the morning program or before 11:50 AM for the afternoon program
Supervision is not provided until that time and we cannot assume responsibility for the children’s safety. Teachers will have their classrooms open at 8:20 AM and 12:00 PM to allow students to put away their personal belongings and get ready for the school day. Students go home at 10:50 AM and 2:30 PM. If you are providing transportation, students must be picked up on time.
