Early Childhood Services

Ready Start, Extended Day, Development 3's instructional model:

1. 4 days of remote instruction: synchronous (live zoom) and asynchronous (at home learning).  Same model as our current remote schedule; or
2. 4 days of in-person instruction for 2.5 hours on Mondays/Tuesdays/Thursdays/Fridays (AM or PM sessions)
   • Sorenson (all programs):  8:20-10:50 & 12:00-2:30 
   • Woodmoor (Ready Start, Extended Day):  8:20-10:50 & 12:00-2:30

Phonology instructional model:

• 4 days of in-person instruction for 2.5 hours on Mondays/Tuesdays/Thursdays/Fridays (AM or PM sessions)

Head Start (Kenmore Elementary) and ECEAP (Woodmoor Elementary) instructional model:

1. Monday/Tuesday: Remote Synchronous Teaching; or
2. Thursday/Friday: In-Person Teaching (10:10-1:40)

*all students will have access to A-synchronous learning on their two off days

Students will engage in whole group instruction and small group instruction, outdoor play/learning, snack and lunch (Head Start and ECEAP only)

Yes, but changes will be limited based on the capacity of established in-person teaching teams.  If new sessions need to be added we would need a cohort of 9-10 students transitioning to the Hybrid model.  This change could impact your child’s teaching team assignment.

Yes, families can choose to continue with remote instruction during modified Stage 3.  Students will be provided instruction both synchronously (zoom learning) and asynchronously (learning at home).

• Class size for Head Start and ECEAP will be no more than 15 students per classroom.
• Class size for Ready Start, Developmental 3's, Extended Day, and Phonology will be no more than 12 students per classroom.

Possibly.  Depending on if your child’s teacher will be teaching in-person or continuing to teach remotely.  The priority is to keep students with their current teaching teams, but please know that this is dependent on which teaching staff can come back to in-person instruction during Phase 3 services.

IEP In-Person Services for Ready Start, Dev 3's, Extended Day, and Phonology:
For families who are choosing to access in-person classroom services, (Speech Language Pathologist) SLP’s will be delivering services in classrooms for students with communication minutes on their IEP’s.

We will have at least one person on staff in the office when students return to the building. However, the office will remain closed to the public, including parents and volunteers.

Health screenings will be conducted for all staff and students before or upon their arrival to school. All staff will be required to wear cloth masks unless they are unable to wear a mask due to medical condition or disability or due to communication reliant on facial markers or expression. Daily cleaning will occur on a scheduled basis with a deep cleaning on Wednesdays between different groups of students. Ventilation will be set to maximize outside air flow and run continuously throughout the day. All students are encouraged and will be taught to wear masks and wash hands and/or use hand sanitizer.

• Students ages 2-4:  MAY wear a mask
• Students age 5:  MUST wear a mask
• Students with disabilities or with health concerns will be handled on a case by case basis

Staff are required to wear appropriate PPE according to transmission risk levels and are trained by the district on required safety protocols, prior to students attending in-person services.  PPE will include:

• KN95 masks and gowns and/or face shields
• Frequent hand washing and/or use hand sanitizer
• Optional: gloves 

All students will have their temperature taken upon arrival to the school. A student will fail the 
screening if their temperature is 100.4 or greater. If a student fails the temperature screening with a temperature of 100.4 or greater the student will be directed to an isolation area where an assessment will take place. The assessment includes a series of screening questions, retaking of student’s temperature, and documenting the assessment results.

Nurses will be following illness symptom management decision trees provided by the most restrictive local health department recommendations for isolating and managing students and staff who have COVID like illness symptoms in a school setting.

Parents will be contacted by a designed school employee and the student will stay in the isolation room until the parent/guardian picks up the student. The parent will be provided with an exclusion note explaining why the student requires isolation and be given a COVID information packet regarding next steps and when they can return to school.

A district nurse will be on site when students are in attendance.

The district will provide disposable masks for students who have need; they will be available at 
school and on the bus.

• Breakfast and snack meals will be prepared onsite. 
• Classroom staff will collect meals from the kitchen and deliver to the classroom 
• Meals will be cold and individually packaged to minimize handling and cross-contamination 
• Onsite meals will be non-vegetarian (except for students requesting vegetarian meals)
• Special diets will be labeled with student names

• 5-day meal packs will be sent home with students on their last onsite day each week to provide meals for the rest of the week. 
• Food Service will work with classroom helpers to deliver meals to classroom or parent/bus pickup location
• Bus drivers will help load meal packs for bus riding students
• Meal packs will be cold and packaged in grocery bags to be taken home
• Off Site meals will be vegetarian
• Special diets will be labeled with student names

Adults need to be masked when putting their student on the bus, students are encouraged to wear a mask although not required at this age. Children will be assigned to seats, windows will be open for ventilation
